The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer developed in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. It was designed during the 1960s as a replacement for the Aero L-29 Delfín as a principal training aircraft. It was the first trainer aircraft to be equipped with a turbofan powerplant. The type was exported to a wide range of countries as a military trainer.
The Jetlegend L39 was originally produced some years ago and proved to be a rugged, easy to fly jet. As such it has seen much success and has been a favourite for many pilots.
It features:
- Great accessibility through main and engine hatches
- Trailing link landing gear - great for grass field flying
- Nose hatches for immediate access to power switches, fill valves etc.
- Rugged but lightweight construction
Original build, second-hand examples still occasionally come up for sale, which is a great testament to the ruggedness and longevity of the airframe!
The factory went on to produce a G2 (generation 2) L39 which had design modifications but was also an Airex build that saved a significant amount of weight.
The PNP version is based on the G2 L39.
